"This place was amazing! From the moment you walk in till the moment I was walked up to the front, the staff continuously made sure I was doing fine. Every step of the appointment was explained to me so I knew exactly what to expect next. I was greeted with lots of smiles when I first walked in by the front desk Brandon. He gave me lots of mint goodies which I loved. Beats earphones, sunglasses, and an ipad. There was no wait time. Before I could even pick a movie on netflix I was already being brought back. The dental chair is a massage chair and it made me feel so relaxed. Catching up on my tv show and getting a massage while getting my teeth examined was so much fun. Dr. Tum did my exam, and she was quick and very knowledgeable. The assistants Carlos, Neta, Ashley, Areej were so quick and efficient with taking my xrays and whitening impressions. Lizzy the hygienist did my cleaning, and she was wonderful. She is very sweet, quick, and thorough. The office manager Jessica was fabulous right when you walked in she made me feel so important and comfortable. Jessica & Brandon the treatment coordinators was great! They were able to give me some great prices on my same day treatment! I had no choice but to stay for the same day treatment, bc the prices were unbeatable not to stay. The whole mint dentistry cypress team were amazing. They def exceeded my expectations, and I def recommend this dental office to anyone who is looking for a new dental home. Thank you Mint dentistry I can't wait to come back for my next routine visit!!! I'm glad I gave you guys a try. I left with whitening trays, sunglasses, chapstick, lipstick, and lots of oral hygiene tools...you can't beat that!"- J.N. / Google / Aug 14, 2019

The pulp inside a tooth can develop an infection from a physical trauma, a deep crack, or an untreated cavity. Some of the most common signs that you may have an infected tooth are a toothache, swelling of the gums (around the affected tooth), and discoloration. If the tooth isn't treated, you will have increased pain and symptoms once the infection moves to nearby teeth and your bloodstream.
What to Expect
The procedure will begin after you have gotten comfortable in one of our treatment chairs, where you can put on a pair of our MINT dentistry sunglasses and be offered a pair of our Beats headphones. It's important that you feel relaxed while you undergo treatment, so the MINT dentistry team will help you select the appropriate type of sedation for the procedure. Patients usually prefer oral-conscious or nitrous oxide gas for sedation to keep them comfortable during the procedure. Once you are ready, your doctor will carefully remove the infected pulp using state-of-the-art tools and techniques. After this, the inside of the empty tooth will be thoroughly sterilized. After your tooth is sanitized, it will be filled with a special material to protect and seal it. In most cases, a dental crown will be cemented over the treated tooth for protection and strength.
Depending on what sedation was used, you may need to ask a friend or family member to drive you after your procedure. Your mouth and lower face might be swollen or sensitive for a few days, which is why your dentist might write you a prescription for a pain relieving medication. You need to make another appointment around six months after your root canal. Our team will perform an exam to ensure your tooth has healed and the infection is gone. After this, we recommend you continue to schedule annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings to maintain your dental health.
The MINT Commitment
At your consultation, a member of our team will talk about the cost of different treatment options so we can make your treatment fit your needs as well as your budget. If you are using dental insurance, we will reach out to your provider to understand the specific coverage of your policy. If you do not have dental insurance, MINT dentistry accepts many methods of payment, including low-interest medical financing. You can also ask for more information on our MINT Discount Plan, which reduces costs for necessary treatments like root canals.
With modern dental technology and techniques, a root canal can be a quick, simple procedure to treat an infected tooth. Along with different levels of sedation, root canal therapy by our board-certified doctors will be comfortable while saving you from tooth pain and more invasive treatments.
