Best Candidates
Traditional metal braces are a good option for patients of all ages. Our conventional braces are made with strong, stainless steel arch wires threaded through brackets, which are carefully set to move your teeth gently into the desired position. Metal braces are a great treatment for patients with jaw alignment issues, crowded or gapped teeth or an over or underbite. MINT dentistry also uses high-quality elastic bands that are simple to put on and won't snap easily. At your initial consultation, your team will explain your orthodontic treatment options and help you select the method that best matches your goals.
What to Expect
Once we have completed your exam, a personalized plan for treatment will be created by a MINT dentistry professional for your specific needs. To begin your appointment, we'll ask you to sit in one of our massaging treatment chairs in a comfortable procedure room. After putting on a pair of stylish MINT sunglasses and a set of Beats headphones, your enamel will be cleaned and dried for the metal braces. Once we're finished applying the bonding agent, the metal brackets will placed on each tooth. As soon as the brackets are all in place and set, we can put the arch wire through the brackets. You will then be able to choose your desired color or colors for your elastic bands. These small bands keep the arch wire attached to the metal brackets. Typically, the application process moves fairly quickly and patients usually feel minimal discomfort. You will need to return to our office every 4 – 6 weeks for progress checks and adjustments.
Treatment Aftercare
Metal braces can make cleaning and flossing your teeth a littler harder. However, good oral hygiene is important to your overall health. Before you leave with your new braces, we will educate you on how to best clean your teeth and share our tips. As a general rule, we recommend that you floss and brush at least twice a day. Attending all your check-up appointments and regular dental cleanings can help to give you better results. Typically, most patients wear braces for 1 – 2 years, but the length of your treatment will ultimately depend on the severity of your case. Once your treatment is over, your team will take your braces off and fit you for a retainer. A MINT dentistry professional will help you select the correct type of retainer for your new smile.
The MINT Commitment
Compared to other orthodontic treatments, traditional metal braces are typically more affordable. At your consultation, your dentist will go over your treatment options and cost estimates to help you select which best matches your needs, goals, and budget. If you are using dental insurance, our skilled support staff will speak to your insurance to understand your benefits and then calculate your our-of-pocket costs. For patients without dental insurance, MINT dentistry accepts several payment methods and we can help you find low-interest medical financing.
